Dogtooth by Giorgos Lanthimos, which was absolutely incredible.
Fearless by Ronny Yu, which stars Jet Li, and is a visually stimulating look at the life of Huo Yuanjia, founder of Chin Woo Athletic Association.
Santa Sangre, The Holy Mountain, and El Topo all by Alejandro Jodorowsky, and all of which are extremely fucked but are incredibly interesting investigations of the human psyche, (and the individual psyche of Alejandro Jodorowsky,) and all of which I would recommend.
Obviously endless reruns of Star Trek; The Next Generation (Gene Roddenberry), and Twin Peaks (David Lynch, Mark Frost).
Also just saw The Dark Night Rises, which I was very pleased with. Note: not blown away, but very pleased with.
If you liked the Fritz Lang film (which I have not seen the one you mention, but I will watch it as Lang is amazing), you MUST watch 'M' (1931) if you haven't already seen it. Amazing film by Lang starring Peter Lorre. Lang considered it his best film. Oh and I do love Humphrey Bogart...watch 'The Big Sleep' (1946). Stars Bogart and Lauren Bacall...Lauren Bacall is super pretty (and it's a good movie).
ReplyDeleteMy dear I have seen both 'M' and 'The Big Sleep' and have recently just finished 'Dark Passage' starring Bogie and Bacall. And have you seen 'The Testament of Dr. Mabuse' by Lang? Incredible. You'd love it.
DeleteAlso recommend 'The Third Man' starring Orson Welles. Speaking of which, 'Citizen Kane' and 'Touch of Evil' are awesome. And anything from the Mercury Theater Radio or Campbell Playhouse. I've got them all. I'll send you a compact disc.

I've seen 'Citizen Kane' (wonderful), but need to finish 'Touch of Evil' and I've been meaning to watch 'The Third Man.' Ooooh so many good things! I don't know of this Mercury Theater Radio or Campbell Playhouse, but they sound wonderful as well! I would love a disc! Thank you. Just watched 'Blackboard Jungle'. Worth watching if you haven't seen it.
